PRP Therapy: Enhancing Your Hair Transplant Results

What is PRP Therapy?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy has become one of the most exciting adjunctive treatments in hair restoration. By harnessing the healing power of your own blood, PRP can significantly enhance the outcome of a hair transplant — and we include it as standard on the day of your procedure.

How PRP Works

A small amount of your blood is drawn and placed in a centrifuge, separating the platelet-rich plasma from red blood cells. This concentrated plasma — rich in growth factors — is then injected into the scalp at the treatment area.

  • Growth Factors: Platelets release PDGF, VEGF, and TGF-β, all of which stimulate follicle activity
  • Cell Proliferation: Encourages dormant follicles to enter the active growth phase
  • Improved Blood Supply: Increases vascularisation around transplanted grafts
  • Reduced Inflammation: Speeds up the healing response post-procedure

PRP on Procedure Day

Every patient receives one PRP session on the day of their hair transplant. Applying PRP immediately after graft implantation bathes the new follicles in growth factors at exactly the right moment — increasing graft survival, reducing post-operative shedding, and accelerating initial healing.

Standalone PRP for Hair Loss

PRP isn't just for post-transplant care. As a standalone treatment, regular PRP sessions can slow progressive hair loss and improve the density of thinning areas — ideal for those not yet ready for surgery, or those wanting to preserve existing hair.

What to Expect

  • Blood draw takes approximately 5 minutes
  • Centrifuge separation takes around 10 minutes
  • Injections are well-tolerated with topical anaesthetic
  • No downtime — return to normal activities immediately

How Many Sessions?

For standalone treatment, a course of 3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart is recommended, followed by maintenance every 4–6 months. Post-transplant patients benefit most from additional sessions at months 3 and 6.
